Step 2: Check Tool Kit Availability
Use our integrated calendar to see where and when tool kits are available. Once you've decided which tool kit you'd like to reserve, click on the listing, enter "1" in the quantity selection box, and then enter your contact and payment information. You do not have to be a member of Holden Forests & Gardens to complete this process; simply close out of the pop-up "sign in" window.
Step 3: Set your Pick-Up Time
You will receive an email with your reservation details from forestry@holdenfg.org and be connected with the host site for your reserved tool kit. You should expect a follow-up email directly from your host site within a couple of days that will help you set up a pick-up time for your reserved tool kit.
Step 4: Pick Up your Tool Kit
When you pick up your tool kit, you will have the option to select which tools you'd like to borrow (you do not have to take them all). You will also be asked to sign a loan form that outlines which tools you have borrowed and the state they were in at the time of lending, as well as an acknowledgement of expectations/policies and a liability waiver.
You can preview that form here.
Step 5: Use your Tools to Tackle your Project
Tackle that project! Included in the tool kit will be an informational binder. And if you feel so moved, we'd love to see before and after photos of your project area.
Step 6: Return your Tool Kit
A few days before you are due to return your tool kit, you'll receive a return reminder from forestry@holdenfg.org and be connected with your host site. You should expect a follow-up email directly from your host site within a couple of days that will help you set up a drop-off time for your reserved tool kit.
Included in the tool kit are some care supplies - please make sure the tools are clean and sharpened when you return them so they're ready to go for the next borrower. Upon returning the tool kit, the host site will use your original form to ensure everything is returned in ship-shape condition. You'll be asked to sign this form before you leave to close the loop.
Pending any damaged or missing tools, you can expect your deposit to be refunded within five business days of your return date. An email will come from forestry@holdenfg.org once your refund has been initiated.
Step 7: Tell Us about your Project :)
While returning your tool kit, you'll be invited to complete a survey about your experience. We would greatly appreciate any feedback you'd like to share about how the tools were used, how you felt our lending system worked, and if you have suggestions for ways to improve things in the future. We would also welcome any pictures of your project you'd like to share!
As a thank-you for your thoughts, your host site will have a small gift for you to take with you!
